Glock Gen 6 COA: CADRE NEWS

Cory Ross

Okay, maybe this is no surprise: Glock has introduced Gen 6 COA models. To update everyone, Aimpoint held an exclusivity contract with Glock for one year. That meant only Glock could sell COA-compatible pistols with the A-Cut footprint. Fast-forward, and now anyone can license COA compatibility through Aimpoint, including almost all the big manufacturers.

Of course, Glock wasn’t going to stand by. Having already achieved massive success with the Gen 5 COAs, it’s no surprise that they are bringing that compatibility over to the Gen 6.

FEATURES

Glock’s Gen6 G45 and G17 COA series pistols pair refined ergonomics with a fully integrated optic solution built for duty use. The G45 blends the full-size G17 frame with the shorter G19 slide, delivering a high-capacity platform with a more efficient draw stroke, while the G17 maintains a full-length configuration for maximum control and shootability.

Both models feature an updated grip texture, an added thumbrest on the dust cover, and a slide stop guard designed to prevent unintentional activation under stress. A new flat-faced trigger enhances control and consistency, complemented by Glock’s optic-ready mounting system, which lowers optic height while maintaining compatibility via adapter plates.

The COA series takes it further with Aimpoint’s A-CUT slide cut and a factory-mounted Aimpoint COA red dot, featuring a 3.5 MOA dot, 16 brightness settings—including IR modes—and a fully enclosed, nitrogen-purged design to resist debris and fogging. Each pistol ships with three 17-round magazines.

ZOOMING OUT

I’m not surprised that Glock has issued Gen 6 COA-equipped pistols. I am surprised that Glock didn’t make a bigger deal of it. From what I can tell, these will ship soon.
