While on patrol officer observed two individuals behind a local business. When they started to run he exited his patrol car and began pursuing them around the corner of the building. He lost sight of the individuals and was subsequently shot in the back twice by a 22 cal rifle. The Safariland vest that he was wearing saved his life that night.
