Lieutenant Blaney made a traffic stop and the driver opened fire – striking Lt. Blaney 1 3/4 inch up from the bottom of his Safariland Zero G Gold IIIA armor. The Lieutenant returned fire but his assailant escaped in a the vehicle which turned out to be stolen. Lieutenant Blaney was able to apprehend the passenger. The assailant was taken into custody later that evening
