On September 29, 2017, Officer David Goodrich and Detective Kristen Hearne responded to a suspicious vehicle call. While investigating the area, two individuals emerged out of the nearby woods. As the officer and detective instructed the individuals to place their personal items on the ground, the male subject fired at Officer Goodrich and Detective Hearne.
Officer Goodrich’s Second Chance® SM02 Level II armor stopped the two 9mm rounds hitting him in the chest, center of mass. Sadly, Detective Hearne was hit multiple times and did not survive.
A manhunt followed and the suspects were captured and charged with murder and aggravated assault.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Hearne family for Officer Hearne’s bravery and valor.
