Officer Shearer responded to a carjacking where the vehicle was spotted in an apartment complex. As he arrived the suspect fled the vehicle on foot and Officer Shearer gave chase. As he caught the suspect the assailant drew a 380 and shot Officer Shearer in the upper right chest. Officer Shearer returned fire wounding his assailant and took him into custody.
