On October 23, 2017, an officer was responding to a call regarding shots fired. When he encountered the suspect’s vehicle, the officer exited his patrol car to engage the suspect and he was shot with a 12-gauge slug in the abdomen.
The officer is recovering and will be returning to duty thanks to his SecondChance® SM02 Level IIIA vest, which stopped the round.
