On May 16, 2018, officers from the High Point Police Department were
searching a heavily wooded area for an armed murder suspect when he
suddenly opened fire from close range with a 12-gauge shotgun.
The officers returned fire, wounding the assailant, and took him into custody
where he was later charged with murder for the previous incident and four
accounts of attempted murder of a police officer.
Officer Kaitlin Edwards was hit in the chest and duty belt by the #8 shot from
the suspect’s 12-gauge shotgun. Her Second Chance SM01F level II armor
stopped the shot and she was treated at the hospital and released.
We welcome Officer Kaitlin Edwards, SAVE #2025, to The Safariland Group
