On April 4, 2019, Trooper Elmer Martin was involved in a pursuit when the suspect vehicle steered into oncoming traffic. The suspect’s move forced another vehicle off the road and when the driver tried to return to the road, he overcorrected and came into Trooper Martin’s lane of traffic. Trooper Martin was able to avoid hitting the passenger door area of the vehicle but collided with the front of the vehicle. The crash was severe, and Trooper Martin needed emergency rescue personnel to cut him from the vehicle.
Though he received injuries off the area protected by his armor, doctors and Trooper Martin credit his Safariland® ABA® XT03 level IIIA armor with saving his life. Trooper Martin’s physical rehabilitation is progressing well, and his attitude is fantastic. He has his sights set on returning to full duty early next year.
We welcome Trooper Elmer Martin, SAVE #2062, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
