On April 1, 2018, Trooper Kyle Sheldon conducted a traffic stop, and while investigating the driver’s status discovered she was wanted in Texas on an active drug warrant. Trooper Sheldon was going to take the driver into custody and asked her to step from the vehicle. The driver was non-compliant and after several requests by Trooper Sheldon, she moved her legs appearing to exit the vehicle. Instead, she produced a .38 caliber handgun and shot Trooper Sheldon in the chest. She fled the area and was captured a short time after.
Trooper Sheldon’s Safariland® Summit SM02 Level II armor stopped the round to his chest. The assailant was found guilty and is serving life in prison. Trooper Sheldon has returned to full duty with the Arkansas State Police.
We welcome Trooper Kyle Sheldon, SAVE #2068, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
