On May 18, 2020, the Dallas Police Department’s SWAT Team responded to a critical incident involving an aggravated assault suspect. Upon entry into the residence, the suspect fired approximately 15 rounds through a closed locked door. Senior Corporal Michaels was hit twice in the groin protector with .22 caliber rounds. Senior Corporal Michaels Safariland® XPIIIA armor stopped the rounds and he sustained no injuries. The Corporal was immediately able to return to full duty.
