On July 9, 2020, members of the Parker County Regional SWAT Team responded to a barricaded suspect who was believed to have a hostage in his residence and was actively shooting at the local Reno Police that were already on scene. The SWAT Team arrived and was tasked with setting up a perimeter. Deputy Thomas Wolf, the team sniper, was tasked to deploy to the Southeast side of the residence to place eyes on that area. As Deputy Wolf moved into position, the suspect opened fire with a .223 rifle loaded with 55 grain Hornady ammo. Deputy Wolf was hit multiple times off the armor and once on his Safariland® Delta 4 Helmet. His helmet stopped the 55 grain .223 round. Deputy Wolf began to crawl away from the area of the shooting and other members of the team effected a rescue under threat of more fire from the assailant. They were able to carry Deputy Wolf to a waiting medic where the initial triage was performed prior to him being taken to the hospital for surgery. A standoff ensued and the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Deputy Wolf has undergone multiple surgeries for the gunshot wound to his hand and hopes to return to full duty soon.
We welcome Depute Thomas Wolf, SAVE #2093, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
