Deputy David Lewis

Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department Starkville, Mississippi Saves Club

On August 20, 2012 deputies from the Oktibbeha County Sherriff’s Department were dispatched to the area of Cannon Road, responding to a report of a man standing in the road wielding a knife. When the deputies arrived they approached the suspect, who immediately attacked Deputy David Lewis with the knife, stabbing him repeatedly. The other deputy on scene attempted to subdue the assailant with both a Taser® unit and pepper spray but the assailant continued his attack on Deputy Lewis. The second deputy then shot the assailant, fatally wounding him and ending the attack.

Deputy Lewis was rushed to the Oktibbeha County Hospital with defensive wounds to areas not covered by his armor. Deputy Lewis was saved from numerous stabs and slashes to his torso, which were stopped by his 2008 ABA® HP IIIA ballistic armor.

We welcome Deputy David Lewis, Save #1813 to The Safariland Group SAVES Club®.
