On February 19, 2021, Officer Debra Wilson of the California Highway Patrol was involved in the pursuit and apprehension of a suspect wanted for an attempted murder. At the end of the pursuit, the suspect opened fire on the officers. Officer Wilson was struck by one 9mm round on her Safariland® Summit™ SM02F Level IIIA armor. Her armor stopped the round. Officer Wilson was airlifted to a local hospital. The suspect was wounded and taken into custody. Officer Wilson still recovering and has returned to light duty.
