On January 26, 2022, Deputy Christian Almonte was conducting a search for suspects who had fled from a traffic stop. As the search progressed, a suspect opened fire with a 9mm. Deputy Almonte was hit in both arms and on his upper torso. His Safariland® XT03 Level II armor stopped the round to his torso.
Deputy Almonte was treated for the wounds to his arms and released the next evening from the hospital and has now returned to full duty.
