On April 30, 2022, Officer Mark Stephenson was conducting a traffic stop. The driver was removed from the vehicle, but the passenger was non-compliant. The passenger moved to the driver’s seat and Officer Stephenson tried to prevent him gaining control of the vehicle. Unfortunately, the suspect was able to get the car into drive and dragged Officer Stephenson over 200 feet before he was able disengage from the vehicle. Officer Stephenson received a head injury and road rash, but his torso was protected by his Safariland® XT03 level II armor. Officer Stephenson’s wounds were treated and he has returned to full duty.
