On May 9, 2021, Lieutenant Chad Wucherer was on a traffic stop standing at the driver’s door of his patrol vehicle when another car struck his patrol vehicle from behind at approximately 40-50 MPH. The suspect’s vehicle sideswiped the side where Lieutenant Chad Wucherer was standing, then fled the area. The assailant was later located and arrested. Lieutenant Wucherer was transported to the hospital where he was treated for injuries on areas unprotected by his armor. Doctors credit his Safariland XT03 level IIIA armor and IMPAC HT Plate with protecting his torso from injury. Lieutenant Wucherer has returned to full duty.
