On July 30, 2022, Lieutenant Brent Scott had responded to a call for an armed, barricaded suspect and was on post on the perimeter. The female suspect opened fire with a 12-gauge shotgun loaded with buckshot. Lt. Scott was struck with buckshot in the chest and hip. His Safarilandâ SX02 Level IIIA armor stopped the pellets to the torso. Lt. Scott was able to walk to the ambulance and was taken to the hospital for the buckshot hits to his hip and leg. The suspect continued to shoot from the barricaded position until SWAT was able to flush her out using chemical agents. She has been charged with multiple felonies.
Lt. Scott has recovered and returned to full duty.
