On September 19, 2022, Deputy William “Jake” Snyder was working an off-duty detail at the Tri-State Fair. A suspect that had been in an altercation ran from deputies and Deputy Snyder gave chase. The suspect turned and opened fire with a .9mm from approximately 15 feet away. Deputy Snyder was hit 2 times. His Safariland HP02 Level II armor stopped the .9mm FMJ rounds. Deputy Snyder and other deputies were able to return fire and take the assailant into custody.
