On March 24, 2023, Lieutenant David Bissonnette was on patrol when a drunk driver crossed the center line and struck his vehicle head on at 52 MPH. Lt. Bissonnette suffered multiple injuries including brain swelling, brain bleed, major concussion, broken orbital bone, and nerve damage to his face and hand along with broken bones in the hand that have already required 2 surgeries. All his doctors have told him his Safariland SX02 Level II armor saved his life by absorbing the majority of the force of the impact.
