On September 3, 2023, Officer Genevieve Bone responded to an armed party disturbance at a convenience store. While enroute, officers were informed by dispatch that the suspect claimed to be armed with guns, knives, and a hand grenade. Officer Bone arrived and observed the suspect standing in the store, blocking the doorway and yelling at customers and employees. Officer Bone attempted to detain the suspect and escort him outside. She attempted to key up her mic on her radio, but the suspect gained control of her radio and prevented her from communicating with responding officers. The suspect continued to violently resist Officer Bone, pushing her against the store’s wall and striking her in the chest 3 times with a fixed blade knife. Officer Bone’s Safariland XT03 level II armor defeated the edged weapon strikes and she was able to take the assailant into custody when additional officers arrived on scene. The suspect has been charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder.
We welcome Officer Genevieve Bone as SAVE #2186 to the Safariland Group SAVES Club.
