On October 8, 2014, officers of the Oklahoma City Police Department responded to a possible kidnapping incident. When the officers arrived at the suspect’s motel room, they knocked on the door and the suspect invited them in.
The officers entered into the room and, once inside, the suspect opened fire on the officers. The suspect hit two of the three officers and the third officer returned fire. As that officer engaged in a gunfight, the three officers were able to tactically retreat from the room.
Sgt. Cody Koelsch was hit in his strong side arm and chest. Though wounded in the arm, his ABA® HP01 Level II armor stopped the round that hit his chest. His arm is healing well and he will be returning to duty soon.
We welcome Sergeant Cody Koelsch, SAVE #1903, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
