On the night of October 24 in the Florida Keys, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Josh Gordon was in pursuit of a man wanted for questioning in an armed robbery. The suspect, 25 year old Timothy Thomas, crashed his vehicle into a stop sign. When Deputy Gordon ordered him to exit his car with his hands up, the suspect came out shooting.
One of the shots hit Deputy Gordon once, knocking him to the ground. The bullet hit him center mass, in the middle of his chest. There is no doubt his ABA® HP01 Level IIIA armor saved his life.
Deputy Gordon, knocked on his back by the shot, returned fire, as did Deputy David Lariz who arrived as the initial shots were being fired. The suspect, hit twice in the shoulder and back, got into his car and fled.
The following day, the suspect was surrounded by deputies so he surrendered and was apprehended. He was charged with attempting to murder Deputy Gordon and faces many other charges.
We welcome Deputy Josh Gordon, SAVE #1930, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
