On December 23, 2015, Corporal Cory Wester and several officers were serving a felony arrest warrant for aggravated robbery. He and another officer entered the residence in an attempt to locate the suspect. As Cpl. Wester went down a short hallway towards the bedroom, the suspect opened fire with a .40-caliber handgun.
Cpl. Wester was hit in the upper left chest, left hip and right lower leg. Another officer and a civilian were able to get Cpl. Wester to safety. After a nine-hour standoff, the assailant surrendered and is now charged with eight counts of attempted capital murder of a peace officer.
Cpl. Wester’s ABA® HP02 Level II armor stopped the round that hit his chest. He has recovered from the gunshot wounds to his hip and leg and is back on full duty.
We welcome Cpl. Cory Wester, SAVE # 1939, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
