On August 8, 2016, Sgt. Lee Jundt was attempting to stop a bicyclist for a traffic violation when the bicyclist immediately opened fire. Sgt. Jundt didn’t have a chance to exit his patrol vehicle and was struck one time in the chest.
The assailant fled into a restaurant and took a hostage. A standoff ensued and after negotiations failed, SWAT made entry and rescued the hostage and took the assailant into custody. The assailant is facing attempted murder and kidnapping, as well as several other charges.
Officer Jundt’s Second Chance® SM02 Level IIIA armor stopped the .40 S&W round. He was treated, released and has returned to full duty.
