On October 7th, 2025, Officer Cristian Caraballo and other officers responded to a disturbance call involving a firearm. Upon arrival, Officer Caraballo announced his presence, and the suspect exited the residence and immediately opened fire on the officers.
A gunfight ensued, and Officer Caraballo was hit by a 9mm round on his GH HX02 level II armor worn in a TRC Carrier, and his armor stopped the round.
The assailant fled the scene but was later arrested after he turned himself in and is facing multiple felony charges. Officer Caraballo was treated and released from the hospital and has returned to full duty.
