On December 22, 2016, Officer Joel Bravo responded to an armed robbery call and began canvassing the area for the suspects. As another officer began a foot pursuit with one of the suspects, Officer Bravo drove in their direction. Once he turned a corner, one of the suspects opened fire and shot through the windshield of his patrol car.
Officer Bravo was hit directly over his heart with a .45 ACP round but was able to communicate his location to dispatch as he took up a position around his patrol car.
Officer Bravo was transported to the hospital where they discovered that his ABA® HP 01 Level II armor stopped the .45 ACP round. He was treated, released and has returned to full duty.
We welcome Officer Joel Bravo, SAVE #1970, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
