BASELINE MOLLE BELT: CADRE REVIEW

Cory Ross

When two companies known for building quality gear collaborate, people take notice. That’s especially true when those companies are Haley Strategic Partners and Safariland. Both have earned reputations for creating equipment that performs when it matters most, so expectations are naturally high whenever they announce something new.

Previously, I discussed the BASELINE Slick Belt. I was fortunate enough to attend an early preview of this new series. The next in the line is the BASELINE MOLLE Belt, a purpose-built platform designed for users who demand stability, modularity, and comfort in a duty belt.

As part of the new BASELINE belt series, the MOLLE Belt builds on the Slick Belt’s foundation, offering greater modularity for users who need to carry more gear. Whether you’re building out a duty setup, range rig, or training belt, the BASELINE MOLLE Belt is designed to provide a stable, lightweight platform for serious use.

THE BASELINE MOLLE BELT

Like the Slick Belt, the BASELINE MOLLE Belt emphasizes rigidity and comfort while incorporating an enhanced MOLLE interface that enables more precise placement of pouches and accessories.

I’ve always appreciated gear that can be tailored to the mission (as a concerned citizen, I set up all my gear to be modular and scalable). Some days require nothing more than a holster and magazine pouch. Other days call for a more substantial loadout. A good MOLLE belt should adapt to both without becoming bulky or uncomfortable. That’s where the BASELINE MOLLE Belt shines.

SPECS

Like most modern tactical belts, it’s a two-part system featuring an outer belt paired with either the D3 or D3 Pro inner belt. Available in four sizes, the outer belt maintains a rigid, low-profile frame that is 2 inches high and a quarter-inch thick across all options.

The sizing scales incrementally by length, weight, and mounting space, starting with the Small, which adjusts from 32 to 36.5 inches long, weighs 7.5 ounces, and offers 20 MOLLE columns. The Medium spans 35 to 39.5 inches, weighs 7.9 ounces, and provides 22 columns.

For larger setups, the Large fits 38 to 42.5 inches, weighs 8.4 ounces, and features 24 columns, while the XL extends from 41 to 45.5 inches, weighs 8.9 ounces, and maximizes real estate with 26 columns. Regardless of the size, each outer belt features three rows of half-inch MOLLE webbing for secure gear attachment.

FEATURES

The BASELINE MOLLE Belt is built with rigid, lightweight construction using advanced laminate materials, MIL-SPEC webbing, and a high-density polyethylene stiffener. Together, these materials create a platform that supports a fully equipped loadout while evenly distributing weight around the waist to reduce fatigue during long range or training sessions.

One of the standout features is the enhanced ½-inch MOLLE interface. This refined spacing allows for more precise pouch placement while remaining fully compatible with traditional MOLLE/PALS systems, Malice Clips, and Mandible Straps. For users who obsess over gear placement—and let’s be honest, most of us do—that added flexibility is a welcome feature.

The belt also incorporates the Overlock Tab Closure System and an integrated 1-inch Raptor buckle (same as the Slick Belt). Together, they eliminate sag around the closure found in most tactical belts. This provides true 360-degree rigidity across the entire belt. The result is consistent support regardless of how much gear you’re carrying.

Another notable feature is the use of VELCRO Brand High Technology Hook, which improves engagement with the inner belt and provides a stronger, more consistent hold. Combined with the included Mandible MOLLE Straps, the system offers fast attachment, excellent retention, and easy reconfiguration as needs change.

Each belt ships with a two-pack of Mandible Vertical MOLLE Straps, giving users a ready-to-run platform right out of the box.

WHAT I LIKE

The feature that immediately stands out is the upgraded MOLLE interface. Anyone who has spent time configuring a belt setup knows how frustrating it can be when pouch placement is constrained by spacing. The ½-inch MOLLE pattern offers noticeably greater flexibility, allowing users to fine-tune their setup exactly as they want.

I also remain a fan of the Overlock Tab Closure System and the Raptor buckle combination (just like in the BAESLINE Slick Belt). The design creates a more rigid front section than many traditional duty belts, helping eliminate the flex often found near the buckle.

WHO IT’S FOR

The BASELINE MOLLE Belt is designed for users who need more capability than a traditional EDC belt can provide. Law enforcement officers, military personnel, competitive shooters, firearms instructors, and concerned citizens will all appreciate the additional modularity.

At the same time, it doesn’t sacrifice comfort to achieve that capability. The lightweight construction and thoughtful weight distribution make it comfortable enough for all-day wear, even when carrying a substantial loadout. Whether you’re spending a long day on the range, teaching a class, or working from a duty belt, comfort matters just as much as capability.

ZOOMING OUT

Haley Strategic Partners and Safariland have built a modular belt that delivers the rigidity needed to support demanding loadouts while maintaining the comfort required for extended wear. The enhanced ½-inch MOLLE interface offers greater flexibility when configuring gear, and the combination of the Overlock Tab Closure System and the Raptor buckle delivers a level of support that stands out in a crowded market.

If your belt serves as the foundation for your equipment, it needs to be stable, adaptable, and dependable. The BASELINE MOLLE Belt checks all three boxes and provides a solid platform for whatever mission—or range day—comes next.
