Taurus GX4 Carry .380: CADRE NEWS

Cory Ross

Springfield Armory with the Hellcat and Sig Sauer with the P365 have already done this—offering their mainline carry guns in .380 ACP. Why? To give consumers more options. And before you scoff, .380 has come a long way as a carry round—just check out my colleague James Maybrick’s article on the subject.

Now, jumping on the .380 train is Taurus. They just released their popular GX4 Carry in .380 ACP.

FEATURES

The Taurus GX4 Carry .380 Auto expands the GX4 Carry platform with a chambering designed to deliver reduced felt recoil without sacrificing the features that make the pistol well-suited for everyday carry.

Built around the same slim profile, the GX4 Carry .380 Auto features an ergonomic grip with three interchangeable backstraps, allowing shooters to tailor the fit to their hands. An integrated MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail provides space for compatible accessories, while optics-ready capability allows shooters to add a red dot.

The pistol also retains the platform’s 15-round magazine capacity, making the smaller cartridge an option without a major reduction in ammunition capacity.

The .380 Auto chambering is intended to make the pistol easier to control and quicker to get back on target, while also reducing discomfort during extended training sessions. For concealed carriers seeking a softer-shooting option, the GX4 Carry .380 Auto combines familiar ergonomics, capacity, and optics compatibility in a proven, carry-focused package.

ZOOMING OUT

I think Taurus has been on a tear, offering good, affordable firearms. The GX4 delivers a ton of value at a sub-$350 price point. Offering the Carry version in .380 ACP is an excellent addition that will broaden its market. If you are in the market for a carry gun, don’t sleep on this one.
