On October 12, 2012 Officer Andrew Baker of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, was dispatched to a gunshot call resulting from a domestic dispute in the Stanton Heights area of the city. As soon as Officer Baker arrived and exited his vehicle, the assailant opened re striking Officer Baker in the center of his chest. Instinctively, he returned fire and wounded the assailant who was later taken into custody.
Officer Baker was treated and released from the ER shortly after the shooting. Upon inspection of his vest, a 9mm round was found imbedded in his T-15® trauma plate and Second Chance® Monarch® (05) vest.
