On May 6, 2013, officers received information regarding a suspect wanted for a double homicide who was in a particular hotel room. Officers from the Gang Unit staged outside the room and, as they made entry, the suspect opened fire. Sergeant Andrew Waldon was hit by shrapnel in the arms and legs, and took a hit in his abdomen from a .380 semi-automatic that was stopped by his ABA® HP01 level II armor.
Sergeant Waldon was transported to the local emergency room where he was treated and released. The suspect was arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder.
We welcome Sergeant Andrew Waldon, Save #1851, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
