On May 17, 2013, Officer Dustin Miller of the Penn State University Police Department was on bicycle patrol when several pedestrians walked into his path. He avoided the pedestrians but crashed and hit his chest when he landed on the upright end of the handlebar. The impact broke his sternum and a rib over his heart. Doctors credit his Second Chance® SM01 level II armor for saving him from serious injuries.
