On November 5, 2013 Parole Agent Nate Castro was working with a nine-member fugitive task force when they received a tip about a fugitive who was wanted for several felonies including kidnapping, false imprisonment, sexual assault and torture. The task force set up surveillance and confirmed the felon’s presence at a residence. A perimeter was established and the team began the search. The felon, who was hiding under a pile of clothing, opened fire on the team and Agent Nate Castro was struck in the chest directly over his heart. Agent Castro’s Second Chance® armor with level IIIA BR01 ballistics stopped the .40 caliber round. Officers returned fire and the assailant was fatally wounded in the gun fight.
All the members of the task force credit Agent Castro’s armor with saving his life.
We welcome Parole Agent Nate Castro, SAVE #1876, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
