On December 1, 2013, Trooper William Baker responded to a collision on Interstate 95 in Maine. While he was seated in his cruiser on the shoulder of the highway, a motorist on a passing vehicle lost control of their car hitting the median rail, then crashing into the driver’s side of Trooper Baker’s cruiser. The impact crushed the trooper’s car inward and the door and B pillar were pushed directly into Trooper Baker’s side. Although he was injured, Trooper Baker’s ABA® BR01 Level II armor protected his torso from major injury.
Medical personnel credit his armor with making the difference and Trooper Baker has returned to full duty. We welcome Trooper William Baker, SAVE #1879, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
