On February 14, 2015, a lookout was broadcast for a Honda Pilot that had fled from the Maryland State Police. Later in the day, the Baltimore County Police spotted the vehicle and Officer Flaherty and his partner attempted to pull over the driver.
The suspect once again fled and the officers pursued. The suspect vehicle then crashed into another vehicle, and as officers approached to take the driver into custody he began firing at them. Officer Flaherty was hit once in the chest. Officers returned fire and ended the assault.
Officer Flaherty was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. His Second Chance® MN01 level II stopped the round to his chest.
We welcome Officer Mark Flaherty, SAVE #1915, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
