Officer Gonzales was one of several policemen summoned to a small southeastern California community after a report that someone was shooting at juveniles. On arriving at the scene, Gonzales was struck in the chest with pellets from a 12ga. shotgun. The 00 Buckshot tore through his uniform shirt and remained embedded in the Second Chance® vest he was wearing.
