It was a cold and wretched night in February when Officer Oakes was patrolling a highway overpass and hit a patch of ice, which threw him into oncoming traffic. The impact pushed the steering wheel and dashboard in around Oakes” body. When released from the hospital, the attending physician stated that if it wasn’t for the Second Chance® vest and seat belt Oakes was wearing, he would have been dead. The imprint of the shoulder harness across Oakes” chest remained for six hours after he was released from the emergency room. The imprint was made through Oakes” heavy duty jacket and his Second Chance® vest.
We welcome Officer Harry Oakes, SAVE #173, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
