On the evening of January 13, 1988, Deputy Chris Lazanis was involved in a head-on car accident. Lucky for Lazanis, it was not fatal. His Second Chance® vest kept him from any major injury. Dr. Burchett writes, “After seeing the collapsed steering wheel, I would have expected to see fractured ribs, fractured sternum, cardiac contusion and possible pulmonary complications.”Thankfully he saw nothing of the sort.
