Trooper Johanson pulled a driver over at 0019 a.m. on a routine stop for tag light and seat belt violation. Johanson radioed in the stop to the Bel Air Barracks before leaving his car. As he approached the driver side of the stopped vehicle, the driver leaned out his window and fired two rounds from a .38 handgun. Both shots hit Johanson in the Second Chance® armor protecting his chest. Johanson returned fire as the assailant drove away. Johanson gave chase for several miles before he realized he had been injured. His backup gave chase while he went on to the hospital. The suspect was later apprehended. Johanson was treated and released from the hospital with nothing more than two chest bruises.
We welcome Trooper Eric Johanson, SAVE #604, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
