Early Sunday morning, 27 July 97, Trooper Angela Watson, OSHP Eaton Post, pulled off the side of the highway she was patrolling to check out a young man who had been reported walking along the highway. Hitchhiking is illegal on Ohio’s highways. As she exited her car and approached the young man, he pulled a .44 magnum handgun from his waistband and fired at the trooper. Watson was wearing one of the newly issued Second Chance® Monarch II armor units. She was hit once in the lower left front panel of her armor. Watson drew her own weapon and returned fire striking her assailant at least four times. The impact from the shooter’s .44 magnum round bruised her lung but did not crack or break any of her ribs.
We welcome Trooper Angela Watson, SAVE #700, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
