Moore responded to a call of a working fire at an apartment building. He was approaching the entrance of the building when two people came out the front door. The girl saw Moore’s uniform and shouted, “he robbed me!” At this point the man stepped away from the woman, bringing up a .45 semi-auto handgun blasting Moore in the lower abdomen and right arm, shattering the humerus. The second round stuck in the lower edge of his 4-year old SFL Second Chance® front panel. The panel deflected the round away from his body entering and traveling just below the skin before exiting. Moore then returned fire, wounding his attacker.
