Lovett, a School Resource Officer, was responding to a call regarding the behavior of one of the students. The student was found hiding in a hayfield and when approached by Lovett, he leveled a 20ga pump and shot the officer four times at a distance of 25-feet. Lovett received over 60 separate wounds outside his Second Chance® armor while the front and back panels of his Monarch IIA absorbed an unknown number of pellets. Lovett returned fire hitting his assailant once in the stomach. Lovett is now wearing a new Ultima IIA vest.
