Officer Benoit was in pursuit of a vehicle which was operating in a careless and negligent manner and failed to stop when signaled to do so. The vehicle did eventually stop, across the road around a blind curve. When the cruiser came around the blind curve, he had to go off the road to avoid hitting the other vehicle. Benoit’s cruiser then hit a tree. The other vehicle then left the scene. According to the treating physician, Benoit’s injuries were greatly reduced by the fact that he was wearing his Second Chance® armor.
