While trying to make an arrest of an armed robbery suspect, Sgt. Fogleman grabbed the suspect not seeing the knife in the suspects hands. As Fogleman held him against the wall he received twenty-four cuts, slashes and puncture wounds in his left arm and shoulder before the suspect was shot and killed by another officer. After the incident it was found that Sgt. Fogleman’s Second Chance® ballistic vest had absorbed several of the slashes and a puncture along the back and kidney area. Sheriff of Mayes County, Frank Cantry said, “Srg Fogleman’s Second Chance® vest definitely prevented serious injury and possibly death.”
