Deputy Sheriff Cress and fellow CPT Putman responded to back-up Carter County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office which was responding to a domestic situation involving fire arm. Suspect left the residence, Cress and Putman were told suspect had made statements of shooting the first officer the he see’s. Deputy Sheriff and CPT Putman performed a rolling road block to stop the suspect and his vehicle. It was then the suspect exited his vehicle, armed with a 12 gauge shot gun in hand and fired at the Johnson County Deputy, Matthew Cress. Cress was hit on the left side of his Second Chance® body armor. Cress lives to tell this tale with only minor bruising and a new assigned number, welcome save number 981.
