K9 Officer Thompson with his K9 Partner, Argo, was searching a wooded area for a suspect wanted for shooting a state trooper three days earlier. Argo alerted to the suspect who was crouched under some heavy brush waiting to ambush the search team. The suspect shot Officer Thompson, striking him in the heart area of his vest. Officer Thompson was shot with the same gun that was used to shoot the state trooper.
