Aimpoint COA: CADRE NEWS

Cory Ross

One of the major highlights of the 2025 SHOT Show was the announcement of the Aimpoint x Glock COA packages. The COA optic is a unique product that requires an A-CUT interface. Previously, Glock had an exclusive one-year deal. However, that deal has now expired, and at SHOT Show 2026, Aimpoint announced that the COA is now available for wide release.

SPECS

The COA is perhaps one of the most unique optics out there. This is largely due to how it is mounted on a pistol’s slide. With A-CUT, the COA is integrated into the slide, rather than adapted to it. This makes it one of the strongest and most durable options on the market. This is a situation where seeing and experiencing it are better than explaining it.

Regardless, the standard specs are as follows:

  • Model(s): COA
  • Magnification: 1x
  • Footprint: A-CUT
  • Dot Size: 3.5 MOA
  • Dot Color: red
  • Brightness Settings: 8 daylight and 4 night vision.
  • Eye Relief: Unlimited
  • Adjustment: 1 MOA
  • Length: 40mm
  • Weight:  1.7 oz.
  • Battery Type: CR2032 Lithium 3 V
  • Battery Run Time: 50,000 hours at daylight setting 7
  • MSRP: $617, Optic Only

FEATURES

By expanding its network of OEM partners, the COA now ships factory-installed on select pistols using Aimpoint’s integrated A-CUT interface, transforming the optic and slide into a unified, purpose-built system.

A-CUT isn’t a plate or an adapter; it’s a slide-integrated mounting system that mechanically locks the optic in place with a front hook and rear locking wedge, stabilizing it in all directions and preventing movement under recoil. This mechanical lock reduces shear forces on screws, allows for a low-profile installation, maintains co-witness capability, and provides the durability and consistent alignment expected of duty-grade gear.

Aimpoint has licensed A-CUT to major handgun manufacturers, with more factory-installed COA combinations planned, while also offering COA as a standalone sight installed by licensed gunsmiths authorized to mill A-CUT—part of a broader effort to establish A-CUT as the industry standard.

ZOOMING OUT

I think the COA and the A-CUT footprint, specifically, are one of the biggest innovations when it comes to mounting red dots on pistols. Failure is always a possibility when using plates and screws. Stacking tolerances just creates more room for error, and the A-CUT with the COA removes that from the equation. This is cool.

Be on the lookout for more A-CUT handgun options throughout the year.
