Andrew, also known as Fifty Shades of FDE, is an active Law Enforcement Officer for a large agency in California with over 18 years of service and experience. His passion for guns and gear started long before his career in law enforcement. Andrew is a devoted husband and father to two children, who he prioritizes over all else. He started his popular blog and Instagram page, @fiftyshadesofFDE, over 10 years ago after acquiring his FN SCAR 17S, which featured various colors and shades of FDE (Flat Dark Earth). His page now boasts over 125K followers, and he has contributed writing to many publications over the years, including Breach Bang Clear, The Mag Life, and Safariland CADRE Dispatch. He enjoys reviewing products so he can share his experience and insights with his audience. Andrew is a board member, alongside his wife (who serves as President), of the California Browncoats, a fan-based charity organization inspired by the show Firefly and the movie Serenity. He maintains a student mindset, always open to learning new things and passing that information forward.
