I was just at one of my favorite yearly industry events: GunCon. Presented by Jon Patton, host of The Gun Collective YouTube channel, the event is centered on the tentpoles of creators, manufacturers, and enthusiasts, bringing everyone together under one roof. Of all the companies represented there, Bul Armory was one of my favorites.
Bul Armory is an Israeli company that specializes in 2011-style pistols. And in my opinion, they produce some of the best. Even better, they offer one of the best value propositions on the market for the pistols they produce. Two of the most popular at GunCon were the Tac Pro and the EDC Pro Compact Nightwood Guns Special Edition. I was able to shoot both at Range Day, and I must say, they are incredible. Let’s dig in.
Tac Comp SPECS
The Tac Comp is a race gun designed for modern shooting competitions. The best part is that it’s both ported and compensated, making it one of the flattest shooting guns out there.

FEATURES
The TAC Comp is a competition-focused 9mm pistol built on the Bul Armory SAS2 platform and designed to deliver speed, control, and capacity in a premium package.
At its core is a 5-inch one-piece Hybrid V6 ported and compensated Bull Barrel, engineered to reduce muzzle rise and keep the pistol flat (which works wonderfully). A stainless-steel frame paired with a full-size polymer grip provides a balance of durability and handling, while the Link Trigger System with a semi-curved trigger offers a pull weight of up to 3 pounds for precise shot control. The Link Trigger System is user-configurable. For me, I’d opt for the short, curved one.
The pistol is optics-ready through the B.A.O. Multi Footprint System and ships with adapter plates for RMR, DPP, Holosun K, and RMSc footprints.
Additional features include CNC ambidextrous walled safeties, a Carry Magwell, black serrated iron sights, and an impressive 20+1 capacity. Four magazines are included, along with a magwell kit, takedown tool, range bag, and optic mounting plates, creating a competition-ready package right out of the box. That’s a lot of gun for $3000.
EDC Pro Compact Nightwood Guns Special Edition SPECS
While the Tac Comp is a race gun, the Nightwood Guns Special Edition is purposefully built for concealed carry.

The Nightwood Guns Special Edition brings competition-inspired performance into a carry-friendly package. Built on the SAS2 platform, this 9mm features a 4.25-inch V8 Ported bull barrel designed to reduce muzzle rise and improve control. An aluminum frame and compact polymer grip keep the weight to just 26.2 ounces, while the Link Trigger System delivers a crisp pull of up to 3 pounds.
The pistol is optics-ready through the B.A.O. Multi Footprint System and includes adapter plates for popular red dot footprints. Additional features include CNC ambidextrous safeties, a Carry Magwell, black serrated sights, and a 16+1 capacity. Three magazines, a magwell kit, a range bag, and mounting accessories round out the package.
ZOOMING OUT
Bul Armory has come out swinging in the 2011 market. They offer quality pistols with features people actually want. One important note: Bul Armory uses proprietary magazines, not the common 2011-style ones. This is largely to address issues with the 2011 magazine design. That’s also why they include three or four magazines with each gun. Regardless, I highly recommend checking these out if you are in the market for a 2011-style pistol.
