We are in the golden age of optics. Whether it’s high-end riflescopes for PRS or budget red dots for competition, the options are endless. And while you might think many of these are lackluster, that’s not true.
There are plenty of good options that happen to be affordable. C&H Precision, known for building red dot mounting solutions for handguns, has gotten into the red dot game.
Over the past few years, they’ve been expanding the lineup. C&H recently put the spotlight on the COMP Red Dot, which offers a large-window red dot at a budget price.

FEATURES
C&H Precision’s COMP combines a durable aluminum housing with features designed for fast target acquisition. Built around the RMR footprint, the COMP offers broad compatibility with optics-ready pistols and a large target window for a wide sight picture. Shooters can choose a red or green reticle, and the Red Multi-Reticle version pairs a 2 MOA dot with a 21 MOA circle.

Ten brightness settings (the lowest two are night-vision compatible) suit different lighting conditions, while Motion Control Technology activates the optic when movement is detected. Smart Power Management shuts it down after five minutes of inactivity, delivering a rated 50,000-hour runtime on a CR1632 lithium battery.
C&H machines the housing from one piece of 7075-T6 aluminum and rages the COMP for +P and +P+ ammunition, along with an IPX7 waterproof rating. It’s a 1x optic with a 27mm lens, and you get 45 MOA of elevation and windage adjustment at 1 MOA per click. MSRP is $299.99.
ZOOMING OUT
I like options; the more, the merrier, especially when they come from a reputable company. C&H has built trust with many end users, so it’s no surprise that they’ve started offering optics under their own brand.
Before you mount one, make sure your holster is built for an optic. Safariland’s RDS and RDSO holsters are designed for red dot-equipped pistols, and the Holster Finder shows the latest fits.
