The SR1911 was Ruger’s entry into the 1911 market. Since its launch, it has become a standby entry-level option for those who want to take a swing at a solid single-stack pistol without spending a semi-custom price or settling for an import.
New for 2024 is the Ruger SR1911 Street Edition, just in time for Ruger’s 75th anniversary.
Ruger has grown from a garage consideration to one of the largest firearms makers in the world in a short seventy-five years. The 75th Anniversary Street Edition SR1911 is a tribute to the genius of Bill Ruger, the rise of the Ruger company, and a special treat to the millions who own and carry Rugers.
The Street Edition SR1911 Commander
The Street Edition SR1911 shines a spotlight on the hometown streets where Ruger manufactures their wares across the United States.
The first Street Edition SR1911 is a Commander-size model chambered in .45 ACP with a 4.25-inch barrel. It features custom red and white G10 grips, a nod to the Red Barn, where Ruger first began in 1949. The matte stainless steel slide features laser-engraved scrollwork on both sides as well as a 75th Anniversary scrolling at the top of the slide between the Novak 3-dot sights.
Instead of the usual city and state that Ruger stamps in their firearms, this model is embossed with “75 Station St.”, the location of the old Red Barn. Otherwise, it is the SR1911 Commander we are accustomed to. It features an anodized lightweight aluminum frame, a skeletonized hammer and trigger, an extended beavertail, and a flat mainspring housing. This limited edition handgun is a run of only 500 units and has an MSRP of $1,899.
Future Street Editions
The Ruger SR1911 Commander is not the only model to get the Street Edition treatment. Other models are expected to ship at the end of 2024, each with unique grip colors and displaying the street names of Ruger’s different facilities including, “1 Lacy Pace”, “411 Sunapee St.”, “271 Cardwell Rd.”, and “200 Ruger Rd.”
